How to apply for the First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)

Starting 1st July 2017, your First Home Owner Grant has been increased from $10,000 to $20,000 for new homes built in regional Victoria and valued up to $750,000. This applies for contracts signed from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2020. Your home can be a house, townhouse, apartment, unit or similar, but it must be valued at $750,000 or less and be the first sale of the property as residential premises. It cannot be an investment property or a holiday house.

You can apply directly with the State Revenue Office of Victoria or via an approved agent.

  • Check eligibility 

Your answers to seven checklist questions on the Application for First Home Owner Grant (FHOG-Form-02) will determine your eligibility to receive the $10,000/$20,000.

 

  • Gather supporting evidence

  • Complete the application

The Application for First Home Owner Grant (FHOG-Form-02) can be completed:

  • On screen, printed and signed, or
  • Downloaded, printed, completed and signed

 

  • Lodge the application

If you are applying for the FHOG through the State Revenue Office, the application and all supporting documents can be mailed to:

The application must be lodged within 12 months of settlement or completion of construction.
